A Short Personal Vignette: A Letter in My Coffee

A Letter, A Cup, A Story

M

The cup was placed in such a way that the McDonald’s M turned into a W from where I sat, and W had a completely different personality: M would have felt like a logo, but W felt like a question. Why, when, what, who.

My mind started wandering, as it always did, searching for the signal the universe might be sending through this inverted image. In that moment, the shape looked like V V.

My imagination stopped pretending it was sensible. Two Vs could only mean one thing: V for Vandana, V for victory.

“Victorious Vandana” left me feeling special, as if my coffee had briefly turned into a motivational speaker.

The coffee tasted like coffee, but the moment made it feel richer, as if the foam had added a little victory to the flavour. And for a few minutes, an ordinary morning turned into a tiny story, simply because one letter decided to appear in the most unlikely place.
